MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Due to medical and personal reasons I will be stepping down as President of the Prince
Edward County Chamber of Tourism and Commerce as of November 1st, 2007.

I found the two years holding the position both challenging and rewarding. I wish to thank the present and past members of the Board of Directors for all their time and effort on behalf of the Chamber; under their guidance we have achieved a great deal on behalf of the membership. I also want to give a great deal of thanks to General Manager, Lawrie Ackerman and Office Manager, Jan DeMille. Without them the job would have been impossible.

I am handing over the reins to Vice President, Rick Caruso and I wish him the best in the future.

Ian Scrimshaw, President

PECCTAC's NEW LOGO

PECCTAC’s NEW LOGO with its star-like compass represents the new face of our growing membership.

With its rich maritime history and being surrounded by water, the compass is the focal point of the Chamber’s new logo.

Compasses have been used since the 1300s and have helped guide mankind in their exploration of the world; consequently, it seemed appropriate to have it represent the role of the Chamber which guides not only our visitors to places to stay, dine, explore, etc...., but also the general public in their quest for information and its members in ways that will help build their businesses. In addition, this star-like compass is also symbolic of our star filled night time skies while the blue and gold intersecting points of the compass represent the networking opportunities which the Chamber supplies both to our community (gold) and our businesses (blue).

The colours of the logo were chosen to reflect the surroundings of our island community. The rich blue is symbolic of our waters and the sky while the golden rays are indicative of our golden sunsets which, in turn, reflect our County’s friendly warmth and the sun-filled days which our tourists come to enjoy. The deep bronze represents the earth’s golden harvests of our agricultural community. This new logo encompasses the diversity of a truly multifaceted organization while paying homage to the County’s history and the Chamber’s ongoing role within the community of Prince Edward County.

The PECCTAC Board of Directors wants to thank Lynne McMullan of Samlyn Enterprises for her creative talents in designing this perfect LOGO.
